Dr James Mackie

(Medical Director Patient Safety @Clinical Excellence Commission)
Jim is passionate about patient safety and quality improvement and strongly advocates for robust data and reliable systems to enhance the patient experience. His role includes leading the Data and Analytics Team which provides QIDS, QARS and the Death Review Database. Jim works closely with eHealth on all aspects of patient safety in the electronic domain.

Jim joined the CEC late in 2018. He is a renal physician who has worked over many years in a number of LHDs as a clinician/manager. Outside of his interest in patient safety he has a long interest in kidney transplantation and service development especially in the provision of dialysis services. He has served as the Medical Executive Director for SESLHD.

Alexandra Shields

Alexandra is an employment and labour lawyer with expertise across all areas of employment, workplace relationships and industrial relations law for public and private sector clients, with very strong experience in workplace litigation, including discrimination, sexual harassment and equal opportunity claims, unfair and unlawful dismissals and Consumer Law claims.
Alexandra has a sound understanding of her clients’ businesses and provides a practical and solutions-focused approach on contentious and non-contentious matters.

Alexandra regularly represents and advocates for clients in conciliations and hearings in various jurisdictions. She is a regular presenter at client and external industry seminars on various aspects of employment law.
