Guest Speakers: Ms Karen Keogh & Dr Laila Tabassum

Karen’s specific area of expertise is as a Health Industry lawyer. She is a Partner at HWL Ebsworth with over 20 years’ experience in Australia and England, being qualified in both jurisdictions. Karen has acted for a diverse range of clients including professional bodies, medical defence organisations, royal colleges, hospitals, foundation trusts and government bodies, individual doctors and dentists.
Karen specialises in corporate and commercial work including corporate governance, regulatory matters, disciplinary proceedings, commercial contracts, industrial matters, risk management and coronial inquiries.
She has a particular interest in digital health and has been presenting regularly on the medico legal implications of the My Health Record.

 

Laila works for the Australian Digital Health Agency as an Education and Support Lead. She is helping the 3 Sydney metro PHNs with the My health Record Expansion program. She is Medical doctor with a strong research and digital health background. Laila has a Master of Public health from UNSW. After her MPH she worked in psychiatry research with UNSW for 4 years before starting working in General Practice data quality improvement. She has worked on and with My Health Record for the past 6 years. She is passionate about my health record becoming the platform for providing integrated care to all Australians.
