About Dr Peter Arnold
Dr Peter Arnold is a South African medical graduate, but he did his internship and post-graduate training in Australia. A suburban general practitioner for 25 years, he was a member of the New South Wales Medical Board from 1987, serving as Deputy President from 1993 to 2000. From 1991 to 1992 he was a member of Australian Health Ministers Advisory Council (AHMAC) Implementation Working Group on the Mutual Recognition of Medical Practitioners. He is a past president of AMA New South Wales and of the General Practitioners Society in Australia. He was Chairman of the Federal Council of the AMA from 1995 to 1999.

Dr Melanie Wroth

About Dr Melanie Wroth
Dr Melanie Wroth is a dinkie-die Australian who graduated from Sydney University in 1982 and gained her FRACP in 1992. She undertook specialty training at the Royal Prince Alfred and Concord Hospitals. Dr Wroth was clinical staff specialist in geriatric medicine at Balmain Hospital and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital until 1999 and subsequently did geriatric locums at Balmain and Campbelltown Hospitals.

Dr Wroth has chaired the GP Area of Need panel for the New South Wales Medical Board since 2002. She is an occasional member of the NSW Medical Tribunal and an assessor for the Postgraduate Medical Council of New South Wales.

Professor Patricia Davidson

About Professor Patricia Davidson
Professor Patricia Davidson, who has come down from Newcastle this evening, gained her medical degree from Glasgow University. She emigrated to Australia in 1985, working first at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne. She gained her Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and has been Censor-in-Chief since May 2003.

She led the RACS education portfolio to gain successful authorisation by the ACCC for both the selection and training of surgeons and for the assessment of international medical graduates. Professor Davidson is now the area director of Kaleidoscope, the Hunter Children’s Health Network and is a practising paediatric surgeon.
